Root2Words is a revolutionary way to master your spellings and vocabulary.
Don't just memorize words and their meanings, know them by dissecting their roots.
How did all these complex words in our langauges came into being - did someone just think of it as a complex sequence of random characters? Not quite. There are tiny little tokens that bear special meanings in each langauge. These tiny tokens, called roots, are then put togather again in some sequences to give new words. Kind of like putting the lego pieces togather to make a bigger and more fancy piece.
That is not just it. These roots come from different languages and cultures. Many evolved over time and they embed in them a succint history and hold great cultural significance. By unlocking this mystery, you will not only embark onto a novel linguistic journey but also gain a unique perspective on the incredible evolutionary forces that impacted our cultures and civilizations.
This novel technique is embraced by top linguistic experts, and by spelling-bee finalists like myself, Dhroov Bharatia - helping me earn 4th and 14th place at the Scripps National Spelling Bee.
It not only helped me master intricate words, but also opened doors to fascinating cultures and traditions worldwide. Long, complex words often feel random and impossible to memorize, but breaking them into roots and affixes reveals clear patterns. Instead of brute-force memorization, every word becomes a discovery—its meaning tied to logic, history, and culture.
By mapping each word to the history of its components across languages, you gain not just vocabulary but a window into the evolution of human thought and expression.
Over the years, the lack of effective tools made it difficult for learners to truly master this technique. By combining my passion for language with my background in computer science, I created a novel application designed to bridge that gap. This tool transforms the challenge into an adventure, serving as a valuable guide in your journey to uncover the hidden secrets and histories woven into words.
